Isaac DeVoe

Isaac DeVoe was born on 23 August 1809.1,2,3,4 The records of the Old Dutch Church give on 24 August 1809.5 He was the son of John DeVoe and Elizabeth Landrine.6 Isaac DeVoe was baptized on 14 October 1809 at the Old Dutch Church, Sleepy Hollow, Westchester County, New York.5

Isaac DeVoe married first Susan Fox.7

Isaac DeVoe appeared on the census of 31 August 1850 at Mount Pleasant Township, Westchester County, New York, together with his mother Elizabeth Devoe, age 60; the value of his real estate is given as 3400.8 He was a cartman according to the August 1850 census.8 He married secondly Cordelia A. Oakley, daughter of William Oakley and Marcia Oakley, on 28 August 1859.1,9

Isaac DeVoe appeared on the census of 29 August 1860 at Mount Pleasant Township, Westchester County, New York, where the post office was shown as Tarrytown; the value of his real estate was given as 3000, and the value of his personal estate was given as 1000. In the same household, according to the 1860 census, were his wife Cordelia; their infant son James; a female servant, Margaret Brown, age 14; his mother-in-law Mercy Oakley, age 68; and Timothy Oakley, Day Laborer, age 38.10

Isaac DeVoe appeared on the census of 20 June 1870 at Mount Pleasant Township, Westchester County, New York, where the post office was shown as Tarrytown; the value of his personal estate was recorded as 100.11 He was a teamster according to the June 1870 census.11 He and Cordelia A. Oakley resided in 1876 in Tarrytown, Westchester County, New York.7

Isaac DeVoe appeared on the census of 21 June 1880 at North Tarrytown, Mount Pleasant Township, Westchester County, New York, where he is recorded was being sick with "malona."12

Isaac DeVoe died on 21 March 1890 at age 80.1,3,4 His place of burial is unknown; he is not recorded on the records of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, New York.13
