William Oakley

William Oakley was born on 28 July 1790 in Mile Square, Yonkers, Westchester County, New York.1,2 He was the son of David Oakley and Eunice Oakley.
William Oakley married Marcia Oakley, daughter of Joseph Oakley and Hannah Farrington, about 1818.3,4 William and Marcia Oakley were second cousins, since they both had Miles and Sarah Oakley as great-grandparents and also Moses and Ann Hunt as great-grandparents. Furthermore, William was the son of second cousins. The children of William and Marcia were descended from all three marriages between three Oakley brothers and three Hunt sisters that took place in the 1740's.
William Oakley appeared on the census of 1 October 1850 at Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, where he was described as a farmer and the value of real estate owned given as 2000.5
William Oakley died on 7 May 1854 at age 63.1 (Horne's Oakley Genealogy states he died in 1834.)3 He was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Yonkers, Westchester County, New York.1
