Notes
George King believes that Martha did not die young, but was the daughter
of Robert by a first wife. This explains why Martha is left out of the
Mathews will in 1729. Martha would then have married Anthony Foster.
King also says he can find no record of this marriage, but family
testimony is strong.
The Foster Family provides data on Martha indicating that she was born
around 1700, married about 1720, had children born 1721-1741. She is
said to have died in 1741. If this is correct lots of changes follow.
Robert could not have been born as late as 1695. In fact, he would
probably have to be a first child of John and Sarah born soon after they
were married in 1682. Martha could have been born as late as about 1705
and have had children by 1721. That would put Robert born in the mid
1680s.
It seems clear that Anthony Foster married a Martha T about 1720, but it
is not clear which one.
