Harriet E. Morse was born on 19 September 1818 in Roxbury, Massachusetts.1,2 She was the daughter of Harford Morse and Lucy Gay. Edgar Alonzo Josselyn knew her as "Aunt Eliza."3
Harriet E. Morse married Benjamin Henry Burrell in 1836 at Roxbury, Massachusetts.4 Their intention of marriage was dated 4 September 1836.5
Harriet E. Morse appeared on the census of 12 August 1850 at Roxbury, Massachusetts, in the household of her mother.6 She resided according to a 1852 Roxbury directory in 1852 in 30 Warren Street, near Union Street, Roxbury, Massachusetts.7
Harriet E. Morse appeared on the census of 31 August 1870 at Boston Highlands, Massachusetts, in the household of her mother.8 She was a school teacher according to the August 1870 census.8
Harriet E. Morse appeared on the census of 3 June 1880 at 30 Warren Street, Boston, Massachusetts, in the household of her brother Henry Morse; she was described as widowed and keeping house.9 Harriet E. Burrell signed a letter to Edgar A. Josselyn in Europe, dated 14 August 1887, sending kind regards and best wishes.10
Harriet E. Morse died on 3 October 1895 at age 77.2 She was buried on 5 October 1895 in Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.2,11,12
