Mary Ann Morse was born on 20 July 1820 in Roxbury, Massachusetts.1,2 She was the daughter of Harford Morse and Lucy Gay. Edgar Alonzo Josselyn knew her as "Aunt Ann."3

Mary Ann Morse appeared on the census of 12 August 1850 at Roxbury, Massachusetts, in the household of her mother.4

Mary Ann Morse appeared on the census of 26 June 1860 at Roxbury, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, in the household of her mother.5 She was a teacher according to the 1860 census.5

Mary Ann Morse appeared on the census of 31 August 1870 at Boston Highlands, Massachusetts, in the household of her mother.6 She was a school teacher according to the August 1870 census.6

Mary Ann Morse died on 6 May 1877 at age 56.2 She was buried on 9 May 1877 in Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.2,7,8 A sampler made by Mary Morse was in the possession of Martha (Josselyn) DeVoe in the 1980s.9
