Lucy Dwelley Josselyn was born on 5 August 1796 in Pembroke, Massachusetts.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Charles Josselyn and Lucy Dwelley.

Lucy Dwelley Josselyn married Hira Bates, son of Captain Clement Bates and Rebecca Stetson, on 24 February 1825 at Scituate, Massachusetts.1,4,5 Lucy Dwelley Josselyn and Hira Bates lived on Broadway, Hanover, Massachusetts, in a house built by Hira about 1823.6

Lucy Dwelley Josselyn died on 17 November 1891 at age 95.1
