George Nelson Bliss was born on 6 October 1847 in Medway, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of George Nelson Bliss and Lucia Smith Carpenter.6,2

George Nelson Bliss appeared on the census of 19 June 1860 at West Roxbury, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, in the household of his father.7

George Nelson Bliss was married to Alice Gertrude Josselyn by Rev. Joseph B. Clark on 19 June 1879 at the Central Church, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.8,6,3,9,4 George Nelson Bliss was a boot and shoe salesman in 1880.3

George Nelson Bliss appeared on the census of 15 April 1910 at 4 Elm Street, Boston, Massachusetts, where his home was shown as owned and mortgaged.10 He was a shoe salesman according to the April 1910 census.10

George Nelson Bliss died on 27 January 1940 at age 92.1 (Another source states he died 28 January 1933 in Melrose, Massachusetts, but this date seems unlikely considering that he was buried in 1940.)2 He was buried on 31 January 1940 in Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.1,11,12
