George Robert Troupe appeared on the census of 1881 at Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, in the household of his father.2 George trained as a pharmacist at Westminster College, London. On qualifying he was appointed Pharmacist at Harrogate General Hospital. With a strong Methodist background, and being a local preacher, he attended the nearby Bar Methodist Church.
George Robert Troupe married Elizabeth Ryder on 20 September 1892 at Bar Methodist Church, Bilton Road, Harrogate, Yorkshire, England. George and Elizabeth moved to West Hartlepool, Yorkshire, where George took over a chemist's shop. By 1905 George had opened a chemist's shop at 89 Elwick Road, West Hartlepool.
George Robert Troupe married Dorothy Elizabeth Bainbridge on 5 April 1920 at Norton Methodist Church, Norton-on-Tees, Yorkshire, England.
George Robert Troupe died on 20 January 1939 in Stockton and Thornaby Hospital, Stockton-on-Tees, Yorkshire, England, at age 71.
