Leslie Clement Troup was born on 24 January 1923. He was the son of George Robert Troupe and Dorothy Elizabeth Bainbridge.

He was a Captain in the Durham Light Infantry in World War II, and then took his degree in Forestry at Edinburgh (beside his greatgrandparents' residence of Bush Loan). He became Conservator for the South West and revolutionized forestry methods.

Leslie Clement Troup married Muriel Alderson.

Leslie Clement Troup died in August 1991 at age 68.
