Jessie Phillipa Corlyon was born on 8 November 1887 in Tioga Center, Tioga County, New York.2,3 She was the daughter of Phillip Corlyon and Ella Leonard.2

She graduated from Cortland State Teachers College, and before her marriage had been the first kindergarten teacher in Johnson City, New York.2

Jessie Phillipa Corlyon married William Henry Cargon, son of William H. Cargon and Harriett Ann Walpole, on 31 December 1914 at Johnson City, Broome County, New York; the minister was Rev. Merrill.4 On their return from their honeymoon, they lived with his parents on Valley Road in Katonah.5

Jessie Phillipa Corlyon appeared on the census of 1 June 1915 at Valley Road, Katonah, Westchester County, New York, in the household of her father-in-law.6

She and her husband moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut in the spring of 1917. She was active in the Methodist church; she was financial secretary for twenty years, worked for the Sunday School, and sang in the choir. She was a founder of the Ridgefield Girl Scouts in 1937, was financial secretary for the Ridgefield Library for more than 25 years, was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was chairman of the Junior Red Cross.2

Jessie Phillipa Corlyon and William Henry Cargon were living in September 1927 in Ridgefield, Connecticut.7

Jessie Phillipa Corlyon appears in a photograph of a family picnic at 36 Davis Avenue, White Plains, New York, probably in summer (4 July?) 1944. She lived in 1947 on Gilbert Street, Ridgefield, Connecticut.8 She moved to Binghamton, New York in 1978 to live with her niece, Ruth Tronovitch.2

Jessie Phillipa Corlyon died on 1 January 1982 in Binghamton, New York, at age 94.2 She was buried in Ridgefield Cemetery, Ridgefield, Connecticut.2

Her obituary in the Ridgeview newspaper included a note she had written some years before, to be published on her death and entitled "Farewell."2
