Miles Oakley was born in 1696 in the Borough Town of Westchester, New York.1 He was the son of Miles Oakley and Mercy Gardner.

Miles Oakley married Sarah Pugsley, daughter of John Pugsley and Mary Titus, about 1715.2 The Oakley Genealogy 1 has Miles marrying Sarah Tippetts; Jones, however, gives several reasons why his wife was more likely to have been Sarah Pugsley, including the fact that the 1768 will of John Pugsley, father of Sarah Pugsley, mentions daughter Sarah Oakley.3

Three daughters of Moses Hunt (Sarah, Eunice, and Phebe) married three sons of Miles Oakley (David, William, and Joseph).

Miles Oakley was elected an assessor of the Borough Town of Westchester in 1720, and in 1723 he was made a trustee.4 After 1733, he devoted his time to a fulling mill, saw mill, and grist mill by the Bronx River in Mile Square.5

Miles Oakley died in 1763.1
