William Oakley was born about 1722 in the Borough Town of Westchester, New York.1 He was the son of Miles Oakley and Sarah Pugsley. Mackenzie says he was born about 1727.2

William Oakley married Eunice Hunt, daughter of Moses Hunt and Mary Close, about 1744.1,3,4

William Oakley resided in 1760 at Cortland Manor, Westchester County, New York.1

William Oakley appeared on the census of 1790 at Yorktown, Westchester County, New York, with eight in his family.1 He appeared on the census of 1800 with a family of five males and four females.1

In 1792 William was one of the original trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Peekskill, Westchester County, New York.1

William Oakley died in 1809 in Cortland Manor, Westchester County, New York.5,1
