The base assembly consists of an upper plate, containing the thrust bearing assembly, four extension legs, and a heavy lower plate that acts to lower the center of gravity of the entire design. The extension legs and the upper plate has been manfactured from aluminum. The lower plate is made from 1.5 inch thick steel.
