Mary Jane Troup was born on 28 March 1877 in Unionville (now Hawthorne), Westchester County, New York.1,2 She was the daughter of Charles Robert Troup and Rachel Amelia Walpole.
Mary Jane Troup appears in a family photograph taken about 1885. She was baptized on 5 January 1890 as an adult, probably in the Katonah Methodist Church.3 She resided with Frank and Eva DeVoe on Bank Street, White Plains, Westchester County, New York.4

Mary Jane Troup was a stenographer according to the 1910 census.5 She was a secretary in New York, New York.4,6 Frank Kenneth DeVoe remembered her as a lovely, gentle, settled person (whereas her sister Rae had a nervous disposition.)4
Mary Jane Troup died on 30 July 1914 in Katonah, Westchester County, New York, at age 37.7,8 She was buried on 1 August 1914 in lot 1350 (Walpole plot), Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, Westchester County, New York.9,7,10
