Capitola Eggleston Reeves was born on 3 June 1884 in New York State.1 She was the daughter of Albert H. Reeves and Mary Eggleston. She was named after the character in the book "Capitola the Madcap."2 This was a popular children's book by Emma D. E. N. Southworth, first published in 1859.
