Charles H. DeVoe was born in 1890.1 He was the son of John Herbert DeVoe and Edith Edna Tompkins.1

Charles H. DeVoe appeared on the census of 21 June 1900 at Greenburgh Township, Westchester County, New York, in the household of his maternal grandfather.2

Charles H. DeVoe appeared on the census of 15 April 1910 at 5 Harmon Street, White Plains Village, Westchester County, New York, in the household of his father.3 He was an apprentice mechanist according to the 1910 census.3

Charles H. DeVoe married Mabel H. ____ about 1912.4,5

Charles H. DeVoe appeared on the census of 9 January 1920 at 258 Woodward Avenue, Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, in which his home was shown as rented.4 He was an "operating engineer" at a cable company, according to the January 1920 census.4

Charles H. DeVoe appeared on the census of 12-14 April 1930 at 1122 Gordon Place, Freeport Village, Hempstead Township, Nassau County, New York, where his house was shown as rented.5 He was an engineer for "Steam-Electric" according to the April 1930 census.5

Charles H. DeVoe appears in a family photograph possibly taken at the time of John Herbert and Edith DeVoe's fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1938.
