Henry Josselyn

Henry Josselyn was born about 1652 in Black Point (now Scarborough), Maine.1,2 He was the son of Abraham Josselyn and Beatrice Hampson.2

Elizabeth French suggested he might have been left behind at Black Point with Henry Josselyn, the kinsman for whom he was named, when his parents returned to Massachusetts in 1659.2

Henry Josselyn settled in 1669 in Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.3,4 He was a blacksmith.3

Henry Josselyn married Abigail Stockbridge, daughter of Charles Stockbridge and Abigail Pierce, on 4 November 1676 at Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.5,1,6,7,8,9 His residence was "in the field fifty rods east of Judge William Cushing's farm house" in Scituate, Massachusetts.4

Henry Josselyn died on 30 October 1730 in Hanover, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, being called on the church record "the oldest man in the town for years."3,8,10 He was buried in Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.10
