Joseph Josselyn was born on 16 December 1699 in Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.1,2,3 He was the son of Henry Josselyn and Abigail Stockbridge.1
Joseph Josselyn married first Ruth Bates, daughter of Joseph Bates and Mary Lincoln, on 19 December 1726 at Scituate, Massachusetts.1,2
Joseph Josselyn married second Sylvester Barker, daughter of Isaac Barker and Elizabeth Slocum, on 3 October 1751.4,5,2,1 He had no children.1
Barry's history of Hanover, Massachusetts says He is called Capt. Joseph on the H. Rec., and was a man of great enterprise, and an early prop'r. of the old Bardin Forge. He gave to the town the bell now hanging in the Centre Meet. Ho.1
Joseph Josselyn died on 30 April 1787 in Hanover, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, at age 87.1,2,6 He was buried in Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.7,6
