The large base plate was machined from a slab of 1” aluminum.  The plate measures 40” X 10” at the top surface.  The top surface was planed with a Matsura CNC mill.  The pylon holes were drilled and tapped by hand while the large slots were machined by hand on a Bridgeport mill.  The piece is very heavy, but is stable enough to span across two tables while allowing weight to hand from the road surface.
