The Tree Team cares for the TREES!
We meet once each month March through November. Tree Team workdays for 2013 will be Saturdays, 9am on: May 18th, June 22, July 27, August 24, September 28 & October 5th. There will be a Tree Planting in November. Sign up for the Tree Team to get meeting location and the date to the Fall Tree Planting.
The Pagoda Team cares for the flower gardens, cleans the Pagoda, and edges the walkways.
We meet on the 2nd Sunday of every month at the Pagoda at 10am April through November. Next cleaning date will be June 9th. We also need Pagoda Docents to staff the Pagoda on Sundays through October, 12-6pm and during special events. Docent shifts are only 2 hours long, so there are no excuses (we need your help to keep the pagoda open and free to the public).
The Boat Lake Team keeps our lake clean!
We remove trash and invasive plants on the 1st Saturday of every month through October 5th, at 8am. Dress to get dirty! Our next meeting dates will be June 1st, July 6th, August 3rd, September 7th and October 5th.
Weedin Wednesdays Garden Team
Plant, weed and water various gardens in Patterson Park! We meet on May 15th, then we will meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, June through November at 8am by the Marble Fountain. 2013 gardening days will be: May 15, June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11 & October 9.
Youth/Recreation Volunteers
We run soccer clinics year round and tennis programs in the summer. These programs are very popular but, to keep them free for our neighborhood youth, we need LOTS of help.
The Friends of Patterson Park Ambassadors
The Friends of Patterson Park also runs or supports many special events in Patterson Park. Our newest group of volunteers, called Park Ambassadors, help staff events, work membership tables, and promote The Friends at community events.
Special Events
Additional special events needing volunteer help include : Baltimore Marathon Water Stop, Fishing Festival, Youth Volunteer Day, Dia del Nino, the Annual Halloween Parade, Fishing Festival and Friends Membership Events, gardening projects. If you are interested in helping out during these events, let us know!
More Volunteer Days...
We also have many opportunities that come up on a weekly basis. For example, if there is a drought, we will schedule a volunteer event to water trees and plants. If the weeds are taking over our beautiful gardens, we will ask for some weeders, or, if one of the playgrounds needs our attention, we will call a volunteer day to clean it up. Other tasks may include edging sidewalks, painting benches, picking up trash, weeding gardens, and much, much more!
