Audubon connects people with nature, focusing on the community around the center by providing opportunities for environmental education, conservation, and stewardship in all phases of life. Patterson Park Audubon Center, whose offices are located at Baltimore Street and Linwood Avenue, often collaborates with Friends of Patterson Park on stewardship and education activities in the park. As an educational wing of the National Audubon Society, our mission is To conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity.
In addition to teaching school programs, PPAC educators lead family activities in Patterson Park, including bird watching walks, Tiny Tots safaris, youth bird watching and monitoring, and wildlife gardening workshops in Patterson Park and the surrounding communities. Several of these programs are offered in English and in Spanish. Audubon welcomes volunteers on an individual basis as well as school, community, and corporate groups.
The Pagoda is operated, maintained and staffed by The Friends of Patterson Park and volunteers. The Pagoda is open 12 noon to 6 pm on Sundays from mid-April through mid-October.
