Scholars Serve Project

As part of my #ScholarsServe opportunity this year, I helped identify different developmental characteristics of 150 snail embryos through a project on Zooniverse. This project uses my work to program AI to be able to identify and measure different developmental markers in thousands of different snail embryos. The purpose of developing this AI is to automate these identifications in order to run large studies to determine how different conditions that simulate climate change affect the development of aquatic snails.

Some examples of the developing aquatic snail embryo I identified different features of from the Embryo Cam Zooniverse project. The yellow area measures the size of the egg, the green area measures the size of the whole embryo, the blue area measures the size of the shell, and the two black dots with red targets around them are developing eyes.
