The Headlines

• The course grades have been entered into UMEG.
  The course grade distribution for the 205 registered students was
  • 71 A's (625-700) - (34.63%)
  • 68 B's (550-624) - (33.17%)
  • 48 C's (473-549) - (23.41%)
  • 10 D's (390-472) - (4.88%)
  • 8 F's (0-389) - (3.90%)
  Over 67% A's and B's is outstanding. Congratulations!
  The Final Exam grade distribution for the 201 students who took it was
  • 75 A's (175-200) - (37.31%),
  • 68 B's (150-164) - (33.83%),
  • 40 C's (125-149) - (19.90%),
  • 11 D's (100-124) - (5.47%),
  • 7 F's (0-99) - (3.48%).

• Some phase-plane portraits for linear systems: saddles, spirals, nodes, centers, twists.
  

  • When the linearization of a nonlinear autonomous system about a stationary point
    is a node, saddle, or spiral then the phase-plane portrait for the nonlinear system
    will have the same type of portrait near the stationary point.
    

  • When the linearization of a nonlinear autonomous system about a stationary point
    is a center and the nonlinear system is conservative then the phase-plane portrait
    for the nonlinear system will have the same type of portrait near the stationary point.
