This is an ongoing series of cartoons drawn by Ken Frauwirth for his and (hopefully) your amusement. They are very biologically (esp. immunology and genetics) oriented, and a number are in- jokes, so don't be surprised if there are some you don't get.For all of you who supported the SDS-Page over the years, I'm proud to report that it has finally hit the big time, sort of. I was asked to submit the cover art for the 1999 Cold Spring Harbor Labs Programmed Cell Death meeting booklet. The cartoon (entitled "TV Program Cell Death") was "professionalized" by their in-house artist, but I'm happy to say that the result is very faithful to the original - it just looks nicer. Click here to see my first ever cartoon publication!Heck, there are some that I don't get.
If there are any that you find particularly funny, or you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for future cartoons, send e-mail to me at:
Does lightning strike twice? Well, it helps to be in the lab of the meeting organizer. Here is my commissioned cover art for the 2001 Cold Spring Harbor Labs Programmed Cell Death meeting booklet, and this time it is all my work!
The SDS-Page was also recently featured in an edition of The Scientist, a biology news magazine. Check out the article on "What researchers dream up for downtime."
Lastly, it is my pleasure to encourage another up-and-coming cartoonist, physics student Jason Denov. Check out his cartoon, Lenny the Labrat!
Anyway, without further ado, here they are:
I have also "adapted" several popular songs to scientific themes for
performance at the MCB Follies in 1994, 1995, and 1997, in what was billed as
The SDS-Page On Stage. Let me know what you think
of them.
