Charles Kidd was born about 1852 in Ringland, Norfolk, England. He was the son of James Kidd and Mary Ann Starling. Charles Kidd married Mary Jane Troup, daughter of Robert Troup and Jane Robertson, about 1885 at Middlesbrough Registration District, Yorkshire, England.
Charles Kidd had a greengrocers business in Skelton, Yorkshire; with his pony and cart he collected produce from Middlesbrough for the shop and to sell door to door.
Charles Kidd died of Addison's disease on 22 June 1919 at Skelton, Yorkshire, England. He was buried in Langbaurgh Cemetery, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.
