James Playfair

James Playfair was born in 1712. He was the son of John Playfair and Jean Ure. James Playfair was baptized on 6 November 1712 at Bendochy, Perthshire, Scotland.1,2
James studied at the University of St. Andrews. In 1739 he went to Shetland as chaplain to the Laird of Busla. He was ordained the minister of Benvie parish, near Dundee, in 1743; in 1758 he became minister of the combined parishes of Benvie and Liff.
James Playfair married first Isabel Ure.
James Playfair married second Margaret Young on 9 September 1746.
James Playfair died on 28 May 1772.
