Catherine Mitchell was born in 1783. She was also known as "Kathrine." She was baptized on 29 October 1783 at Bendochy, Perthshire, Scotland.1 She was the daughter of Alexander Mitchell and Sophia Playfair.

Catherine Mitchell married David Robertson on 19 December 1807 at Bendochy Church, Bendochy, Perthshire, Scotland.1

Catherine Mitchell appeared on the census of 1841 at Lochside, Perthshire, Scotland, together with her son John and her daughter Isabella, but not her husband who may have died by then; she was described as a female servant.2,3

Catherine Mitchell left a will on 2 August 1858 at Lochside, Perthshire, Scotland.4,3 She died of "disease of the liver" on 9 August 1858 at Lochside, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland, at age 74.5
