Jedediah Dwelley's surname was also spelled "Dwelly." He was born on 15 March 1737 in Scituate, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Jedediah Dwelley and Elizabeth House.1

Jedediah Dwelley married Lydia Soule, daughter of Aaron Soule and Lydia Peterson, on 24 February 1763 in Pembroke, Massachusetts.4,5,6 A different marriage date, 14 February 1763, is found in the Hanover histories of 1853 and 1910.3,7
Jedediah Dwelley was a soldier in the French and Indian war.3 He was also a Sergeant in the American Revolution.8,9 Because of this, any female descendant of Martha and Kenneth DeVoe is eligible to apply for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Jedediah Dwelley and Lydia Soule sold their homestead to Freedom Chamberlain, gent.10 Jedediah Dwelly, of Pembroke, housewright, and Lydia his wife sold a piece of fresh meadow land in Pembroke to Freedom Chamberlain of Pembroke on 18 February 1786.11
Jedediah Dwelley died after 18 February 1786 in Pembroke, Massachusetts.11 Carol Kroeger, in her Josselyn genealogy, states that he died 20 April 1819 in Norwell, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; she cites Pembroke Vital Records for this date of death, but I (H. DeVoe) could not find it there.8 According to Carol Kroeger, Jedediah Dwelley was buried at South Parish, Norwell, Massachusetts.8
