Valentine Dosette Richard was also known as "Désiré Valentin Dosette Richard."1 He was born on 31 August 1775 in St. Gabriel, Louisiana.1,2 He was the son of expelled Acadians, Amant Richard and Marie Braux.3
Valentine Dosette Richard was baptized on 26 May 1776 at Ascension Church, Donaldsonville, Louisiana.1

Valentine Dosette Richard married second Anne Marguerite Babin on 8 July 1800 at St. James Parish, Louisiana.4
Valentine Dosette Richard was the original claimant of an 1807 Spanish land grant fronting Deer Island on the Pass of Biloxi in Biloxi, Mississippi. By 1835, he had vended or bartered his 443-acre donation claim. The land is presently the site of the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, with buildings designed by Frank Gehry.3

Valentine Dosette Richard died on 30 November 1861 in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi, at age 86.1,2 Valentine and Elizabeth were originally buried in the old family cemetery east of Biloxi River in Shorecrest close to the river near Eagle Point. Because the area was often under water, they were reinterred in Coalville Cemetery, Biloxi, Mississippi.1
