Henry Richard was born on 23 July 1840.1 His surname was pronounced ree-shard, and was also recorded as Richards.2 He was the son of Valentine Dosette Richard and Elizabeth Pitts Hightower.

Henry Richard married Ellen Stiglets, daughter of Vincent Stiglets and Felicita Ladnier.1,3

Henry Richard died on 8 October 1914 at age 74.1 He was buried in Coalville Cemetery, Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi.1
