Ezra Morse was born on 17 September 1741.1,2 The application of his great-granddaughter, Alice Josselyn, for admission to the DAR states he was born in 1741 in Stoughton, Massachusetts.3 He was the son of Ezra Morse and Bethia Lewis. A different source gives his date of birth as 17 September 1744 in Dedham, Massachusetts.4

The intention of marriage between Ezra Morse of Stoughton and Susanna Guild of Walpole was entered on 13 April 1765.5

Ezra Morse married Susanna Guild, daughter of Nathaniel Guild and Mary Boyden, on 7 May 1765 at Stoughton, Massachusetts.4,6

Ezra Morse was a soldier and marched in the Battle of Lexington, 19 April 1775.4 In this battle he served as an ensign in Captain Josiah Pratt's company.3 He became a first lieutenant in Captain William Billings' Company on 16 February 1779.4 His name appeared as major on the Sharon tax list of 1781.3

Ezra Morse died on 9 May 1807 in Sharon, Massachusetts, at age 65.4
