John Jocelyn was born about 1200.1 He was the son of Ralph Jocelyn and Beatrice de Beseville.2
In about 1220 he inherited his father's lands in Easton and Appletree, Northamptonshire. In 1232 he granted most of these lands to a leaseholder and the rest to the Prior and Canons of Bradenstock in Wiltshire.3
In 1229/1230 John received letters of protection for as long as he shall be in the service of the lord king beyond the seas. This presumably refers to service in Henry III's war in France.3
John Jocelyn married Katherine Battell, daughter of Sir Thomas Battell and Elizabeth de Enfeild.2,4
John Jocelyn died about 1248.1
