Statement of Purpose: Inquisitive student with consistency in academia and activities. Dynamic leader with abilities to collaborate with peers, unify groups, and successfully communicate ideas. Focused worker who demonstrates qualitative and quantitative abilities across subjects and an enthusiasm for understanding new perspectives and information.
My name is Gannon Smith, and I'm a University of Maryland student in the class of 2029. I went to high school in Howard County, Maryland, but have lived in Baltimore, Maryland, Columbus, Ohio, and Southern California at different times during my life. My interests include math, literature, chemistry, and social sciences; the confluence of which makes me interested in the field of Economics in addition to other pursuits. My 4+ years of experience participating in Quizbowl (in high school and now at the collegiate level), a team sport based around academic skills in all categories of human knowledge has allowed me to be a well-rounded learner and thinker. I hope to bring enthusiasm and critical thinking to any workspace I operate in in the future.
