My name is Charlotte Williams, and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am studying Elementary Education, and I expect to graduate in 2028. I am also a part of the Epsilon Mu chapter of Alpha Phi Omega here on campus. We are a community service-oriented professional fraternity that enjoys giving back to our community through service projects throughout the semester.
I am studying to become an environmental educator because I want to teach the next generation about their important role in the environment. My goal is to help students understand how their everyday actions impact the natural world and to give them opportunities to experience and care for the environment firsthand. I believe that learning in the field, whether on a river, in a forest, or within a community space, can inspire lasting stewardship in ways that classroom lessons alone cannot.
Through my academic studies, conservation work, and time spent rowing and volunteering on the Anacostia River, I have seen how meaningful it is to connect people with nature. I want to combine science, education, and hands-on experiences to guide future generations toward building a healthier and more sustainable relationship with the environment.
