A Guide to MATLAB

About the Authors

We are mathematics professors at the University of Maryland, College Park. decade. We have used MATLAB in our research, in our mathematics courses, for presentations and demonstrations, for production of graphics for books and for the Web, and even to help our kids do their homework. We hope you'll find MATLAB as useful as we do, and that this book will help you learn to use it quickly and effectively.

Some of us have previously collaborated on a book, The Mathematica Primer, which is similar to this one, but written for the mathematical software language Mathematica. That group also collaborated on Differential Equations with MATLAB, a textbook designed as a supplement to a standard sophomore-level course in differential equations. (This supplement is also available in Mathematica and Maple versions.) A different subset of the authors has also written Multivariable Calculus and Mathematica, with Applications to Geometry and Physics.
