Esta universidad es la más grande y antigua de nuestro país. Fue creada en 1842. Actualmente consta de 13 facultades relacionadas con las áreas de las ciencias, artes, filosofía, economía y humanidades.

También se preocupa de dar un servicio a la comunidad a través del desarrollo artístico y cultural, una muestra de esta intención son las siguientes actividades e instituciones : la Orquesta Sinfónica, el Ballet Nacional, Los coros de cámara y sinfónico, grupos folklóricos, el Teatro Nacional Chileno, museos, el Hospital Clínico, bibliotecas, etc.

Esta universidad se identifica con dos palabras : Tradición y Modernidad.

Es uno de los líderes en comunicaciones modernas en nuestro país, principalmente en el área de nuevas tecnologías.

This university is the biggest and oldest in our country. It was created in 1842. Nowadays it has 13 schools( facultades) related to the areas of science, arts, philosophy, economy and humanistic sciences.

It is also a concern of this university the artistic and cultural development of our country, shown in the following activities and institutions : Symphonic Orchestra, National Ballet, Camara and Symphonic Chorus, Folkloric groups, National Theater, Museums, the Clinic Hospital, libraries, etc.

Two words identify this institution : Tradition and Modernity.

The Universidad de Chile is one of the leaders in modern communications in our country, especially in the area new technologies.
