THE MARYLAND STATE BIRD
by Daniel G.
The Maryland state bird is the Baltimore oriole. The male oriole has orange and black feathers. The Baltimore oriole has the same colors as the Calvert coatofarms and the Maryland state flag. The female Baltimore oriole has olive yellow and rusty black feathers. A nick name for the male oriole is "Lord Baltimore." A nick name for the female oriole is "Lady Baltimore." Lady Baltimore makes a nest that looks like a sack, but is as strong as a wooden basket.
