Hello, I am Tyler Demory, a Science and Global Change alum here at the University of Maryland. I have completed my requirements from the program, including four semesters of required coursework, supplemental courses in sustainability and environmental systems, and a practicum project related to STEM. These activities are outlined at the links provided below.
I was thrilled to be accepted into College Park scholars, and jumped at the opportunity to join the Science and Global Change (SGC) program. One of the catalysts for me joining the environmental field was finding out about the impacts of climate change. Finding out the reality of the climate crisis at a young age was overwhelming, and I would like to help others feel less overwhelmed in the future. After graduation, I would like to work in agricultural extension, helping to communicate best management practices to local farmers in order to help mitigate climate change at a ground level. Finding a program that would allow me to both bond with my peers and learn more about the driving forces of climate change was very exciting to me! The activities and projects completed during my time in SGC allowed me to learn more about the history of climate change, and view current impacts of anthropogenic activities on our climate.
