Hello, I am Tyler Demory, a freshman undergrad at the University of Maryland! I graduated from Walkersville Highschool in Frederick County Maryland, and grew up in Brunswick MD right next to the Potomac river, where my love of nature began. I am persuing a degree in environmental science to advance my career in the field and one day work for a government program such as EPA, NOAA, or USDA.
I was thrilled to be accepted into College Park scholars, and jumped at the opportunity to join Science and Global Change. One of the catalysts for me joining the environmental field was finding out about the impacts of climate change. Finding out the reality of the climate crisis at a young age was overwhelming, and I would like to be a part of the solution as much as I can. So, finding a program that would allow me to both bond with my peers and learn more about the driving forces of climate change was very exciting to me! I look forward to expanding my horizons here at UMD both on my own and through scholars, and to working towards a career in soil science!
