Artemus Ward Eggleston married Mary Elizabeth Wheeler, daughter of John S. Wheeler and Elvira Buck, on 13 March 1854 in New Milford, Connecticut.1
From 1846 until his retirement about 1899, he was a supervisor of two divisions of the New York Central Railroad. He was a personal friend of Cornelius Vanderbilt senior. He also served as trustee and supervisor of the Village of White Plains, New York.2
Artemus Ward Eggleston appeared on the census of 1910 at White Plains, Westchester County, New York, in the household of his son-in-law.3
Artemus Ward Eggleston appears in a photo taken probably about 1913.
Artemus Ward Eggleston died on 9 July 1914 in White Plains, Westchester County, New York, at age 84.2
