Elizabeth Barker Bates was born on 21 June 1811.1 She was the daughter of Captain Thomas Merit Bates and Sylvia Wing.2

Elizabeth Barker Bates married Cyrus Barker Josselyn, son of Charles Josselyn and Lucy Dwelley, on 24 October 1833 at Hanover, Massachusetts.3,4,2 Elizabeth Barker Bates and Cyrus Barker Josselyn resided on School Street, Hanover, Massachusetts, in the house built by Cyrus and later owned and occupied by their son Lewis.2

Elizabeth Barker Bates died on 27 January 1885 in Hanover, Massachusetts, at age 73.2 She was buried in Hanover, Massachusetts.2
