James Henry Bell appeared on the census of 8 June 1880 at College Street, Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.3 He was a blacksmith according to the June 1880 census.3 He was a tool maker according to Martha (Josselyn) DeVoe.4 Elizabeth May Bell and her parents James and Mary appeared in two photographs taken by a Terre Haute photographer.
James Henry Bell died on 5 September 1897 at age 54.1 He was buried in Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, Indiana.1,5 The cemetery lot, # 252, section 3, was sold to Mary E. Bell by a deed dated 6 September 1897.6
