Daniel Bonnett was also known as "Daniel Bonnet."1 He was born in 1665 in France.2 He was the son of Louis Bonnett.3

Daniel Bonnett was a native of Thorigné, Poitou, France, twelve miles southeast of Niort.1 He was a wool worker or weaver.3,4

An 1881 history of Westchester County relates an incident in which one of his children was in danger of being killed during the escape of his family from France.5 Essentially the same story was told of a different Daniel Bonnett and his wife Jeanne Coliver, Huguenots who fled from France to Holland and later to Switzerland.6

Daniel Bonnett married Jeanne Couturier.4,3

Daniel and Jeanne fled to Bristol, England, and were members of the French Church there from 1690 to 1700.3

Daniel Bonnett and Jeanne Couturier arrived in America in the winter of 1700-1701, together with their three children.3,4 The Bonnett family preserved his passport from the mayor of Bristol.2

Daniel purchased two tracts of land in the East Division, New Rochelle, New York, in fall 1702, and increased his holdings from his son Peter (Pierre) in 1718.4

Daniel Bonnett died after 1718; the exact date is unknown.4

One source gives a different list of the children in this family: Daniel (1693-), James (1695-1757), Mary (1697-), Johanna (1699-), Peter (1705-about 1750), and John (about 171_-1757).7
