Alfred Sams was born on 17 October 1895 in Duck End Farm, Lindsell, Essex, England.1 He was the son of Eli Sams.2

Alfred Sams married Charlotte Anne Troup, daughter of Jane Troup, on 28 May 1917 at the Congregational Church, Tower Street, West Hartlepool, County Durham, England.3,1,2 Evidently Alfred met Charlotte when he went to Hartlepool to work in the steel works.3

Alfred Sams was a beltman at the Empire Works at the time of his marriage.2 He lived at 8 Wensleydale Street, West Hartlepool, County Durham, England, at that time.2

Alfred Sams and Charlotte Anne Troup eventually moved to Essex with their daughter Rosa.3 Alfred Sams and Charlotte Anne Troup were divorced about 1930.3,1

Alfred Sams died in 1973 in the Royal London Hospital, Stepney, London, England.1
