Solomon Gay was born on 24 August 1765 in Stoughton, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Solomon Gay and Abigail Gould.1
Solomon Gay married Chloe Daniels on 17 November 1787 at Franklin, Massachusetts.1 A copy of the Franklin town records show the date of their marriage as 17 November 1797.3
Solomon Gay Jr. appeared on the census of 1810 at Sharon, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, in a household with 2 males age under 10, 1 male age 45 or older, 2 females age under 10, 2 females age 10-15, 1 female age 16-25, and 1 female age 26-44.4 These numbers are consistent with a household consisting of Solomon, Jr., his wife Cloe, their two younger sons (the older son Willard might have been elsewhere), and five of their six daughters.
Solomon Gay appeared on the census of 1820 at Canton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, in a household with 2 males age 10-15, 1 male age 45 or older, 1 female age 10-15, 1 female age 16-25, and 1 female age 45 or older.5
Solomon Gay died on 10 March 1844 in Stoughton, Massachusetts, at age 78.6 Other sources give the place of death as Sharon, Massachusetts.1,2 He was buried in Canton Corner Cemetery, Canton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.7
