Thomas B. Rushmer was born on 18 January 1839.1 He was the son of William B. Rushmer and Mary Burnett.

Thomas B. Rushmer appeared on the census of 1 August 1850 at Westfield Township, Essex County, New Jersey, in the household of his stepfather.2 He lived in 1887 in San Francisco, California.3 Nancy Webert, going through family memorabilia in 2009, found a gold dust stone that he evidently sent east from California. A small piece of cardboard with the stone read "Gold dust & stones / Tom sent from Calafor[nia]"; a note in pencil, probably written by Eva (Troup) DeVoe, read "Uncle Tom. Mammas brother".4

Thomas B. Rushmer died on 11 March 1919 at age 80.1
