Artist Statement
Since 1979 I have completed a number of public sculptures including projects for the United States General Service Administration, the New York City Percent for Art Program, and the Dallas Texas Rapid Transit Authority as well as commissions for Developers and Individuals.
To date all of my projects which have involved collaboration with architects and engineers have been completed on time and on budget. In all instances I worked closely with the design panels as well as the community.
All my work contains historical research relating to the specific site and is made to be conceptually accessable to the public at large. Examples of this include the Mississippi Inscape which is based on the literary career of William Faulkner; the information in Jubali, Suadi Arabia project describes the development of the industrial city of Jubali over a 25 year period; the New York City Percent for Art Commission for an Occupational Training Center shows the history of the inhabitants of the site from prehistoric to contemporary times emphasizing various aspects of work.
My Public Outdoor Sculptures have included a wide variety of permanant materials such as cast stone, bronze and terra cotta. These sculptures have always been designed with the site, safety, and permanance of materials in mind and specifically relate to the architecture and environment they are placed.
