Mission: "Continuously improve in all aspects of life."
Hi, I am Amzah Koroma, a dedicated and driven student at the University of Maryland, College Park, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Public Health Science on a Pre Med track. I graduated from Laurel High School in May 2024, where I developed a strong foundation in academics, athletics, and community engagement. My goal is to become a physician who addresses health disparities and improves access to care for underserved populations.
My academic journey is fueled by a passion for understanding the intersection of health, science, and community well being. Through my coursework and involvement in the Science and Global Change Program, I have gained valuable insights into the challenges facing public health and the importance of evidence based solutions. I am particularly interested in exploring how systemic inequities impact health outcomes and how we can create more equitable healthcare systems.
Outside of academics, I have balanced my studies with work and extracurricular activities. I have worked weekends at KPOT, a local restaurant, and taken on freelance photography projects, which have taught me time management, adaptability, and the value of hard work. These experiences have also allowed me to contribute to my family's financial stability while pursuing my education.
In high school, I was an active member of the wrestling team, where I learned discipline, resilience, and the importance of perseverance. Wrestling taught me to push beyond my limits and to approach challenges with determination qualities that I bring to my academic and professional pursuits.
I am committed to making a positive impact in my community and beyond. Whether through my studies, work, or involvement in leadership roles, I strive to contribute to a healthier, more equitable world. My ultimate goal is to combine my passion for medicine and public health to improve the lives of others.
