Jamaican Fruit Bats are very small. They are about three and a half inches long. Their forearm is only as long as 51-67 mm. These bats are megabats. They get their food by flying right into it. The bat has faint stripes on its body. These bats leave their young at the roost while hunting. They live in Mexico, Central America, and South America. Their scientific name is Artibeus Jamaicansis. Jamaican Fruit Bats are important to the rain forests because they help to spread seeds of trees and other plants.
