Topics:

This course is intended to acquire the student with the latest trends of the research activities in machining systems. Fundamentals of machining systems will be discussed. Special attentions will be given to the on-going research activities in machining systems on the College Park campus, such as design of sensor-based machine tools, processing of advanced engineering materials, and integration of CAD/CAM on machining systems. NC machining lab sessions will provide the students with hands-on learning experience. Team work is emphasized to complete the assigned research projects. Software tools used in the class: Matlab, Pro/Engineer and Pro/Manufacture.
