ALGOR STRESS AND THERMAL PROJECT

Modern manufacturing engineers are faced with complicated structures, which require in-depth Finite Element Analysis. To satisfy increasingly precise design criteria, engineers are constantly looking for tools, which enable studies based on stress/strain characteristics. Algor is a useful tool, which allows flexible mesh visualization and manipulation as the analyses are created. Understanding the fundamental capabilities of Algor is critical to its proper application. The goal of this tutorial set is to deliver information for an initial introduction to Algor Design Software.

The reader is provided information to perform a stress analysis of a thin wall plate and a thermal analysis of a 2-D hydraulic shaft. The models analyzed in this tutorial set were created by using both the Pro/Engineer modeling software and Algor's SuperdrawIII program. This report is concluded with a discussion of the results for both the Stress Tutorial and the Thermal Tutorial.
